ALBAWABA - Angelina Jolie, a Hollywood actress and philanthropist, has once again drawn attention from across the world by openly expressing her worry over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Jolie emphasized the gravity of the situation by posting a Doctors Without Borders (MSF) picture on her Instagram Story, writing: "Gaza has become a mass grave for Palestinians and those trying to help them."
Results from a recent study detailing the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly after a temporary truce broke down, were included in the MSF article. In addition to denouncing Israel's increased air, land, and sea strikes, the study accused Israel of methodically uprooting civilians, blocking essential relief, and putting medical and humanitarian personnel in risk.
In order to safeguard civilians and relief workers, the study called on Israeli authorities to quickly break the deadly blockade of Gaza. In order to stop the escalating bloodshed and provide humanitarian access, it also demanded that a truce be restored.
Jolie has already spoken her opinions regarding Gaza. She called the bombardment “the deliberate bombing of a trapped population” and called Gaza “an open-air prison rapidly becoming a mass grave” in an Instagram post from November 2023.
Jolie also attacked international leaders for their inaction, saying, "Global powers are complicit in these crimes by refusing to demand a humanitarian ceasefire and blocking efforts at the UN Security Council."
As a longtime human rights activist and UN Special Envoy, Jolie's remarks reinforce global appeals for immediate humanitarian assistance and the protection of Palestinian people.
