ALBAWABA - Philippe Katerine, French singer-songwriter and actor, was nicknamed "blue man" amid controversy at the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony over depicting "The Last Supper".
The Christian community was angered after what was described as "insulting" during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The organizers of the Olympics apologized to anyone who was offended by a tableau that evoked Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper."
Philippe Katerine was interviewed by CNN and said when he was asked "What do you think in the people who criticized and were offended? "I'm deeply sorry if I shocked some people because it was not meant to be that way."
He noted: "I was born and raised as a Christian and the best thing of that is the ability to 'forgive', so I ask all people who were offended to forgive me."
The thing was a "misunderstanding" and is not related to the religion as said by the French actor in an interview with CNN.
After the controversy, C Spire, an American privately owned telecommunications and technology company, has announced pulling out its advertising from the 2024 Paris Olympics over fuss on the mockery of "The Last Supper".
