Domestic violence kills 27 females in Tunisia

ALBAWABA - Data showed that 27 females were killed in Tunisia during the past 11 months due to domestic violence.

Tunisia was marking the International Day of Resistance to All Forms of Violence against Women. Tunisian authorities are said to have received 27 domestic violence cases during 2023.

According to data, despite all the regulations in the country and the firm rules that aim at decreasing all kinds of violence against girls and women, all 27 women were killed by either their husbands or their relatives.

The United Nations has picked this year "No Excuse" to be the slogan of the International Day to Combat Violence against Women which is internationally marked on Nov. 25.

The UN classifies violence against women as one of the most common forms of human rights violations in the world. Data shared by the organization that an estimated 736 million women, roughly 1 in 3 women, have been victims of physical or sexual violence at least once in their lives.
