Former senior advisor to Barack Obama arrested for child sex

ALBAWABA - One of the former senior advisors to ex-US president Barack Obama recently made headlines after being accused of child sex offenses in a British court. 

According to Daily Mail UK, the individual in question is 46-year-old Rahamim 'Rami' Shy who was behind the US government's strategy of combating Al Qaeda and the Taliban. British court documents revealed that he was specifically accused of arranging the commission of a child sex offense.

Additionally, the senior advisor to  Barack Obama was also accused of having two indecent photos of children and owning an illegal image of a child. The news reached big Arabic social media users such as Eyad Al Hmoud who has garnered more than five million followers on his X (formerly Twitter) account. 

Before the court trial, Rahamim was arrested by the Bedfordshire Police at the end of Feb. 2024 and was told to not plea to any charges made against him until his hearing in June. 

Additionally to working with Barack Obama, Shy who is a US citizen living in New Jersey, also worked for Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State.
