ALBAWABA - A Jordanian man recently sparked widespread concern after reports indicated that he mysteriously went missing on Saturday in Ottawa, Canada.

49-year-old Waleed Amareen mysteriously disappeared at 8 p.m. after being spotted in Ottawa's Prince Albert Street, wearing a black rain jacket and gray loafers. Authorities also described him as a medium-built, bald man who is approximately 180 cm tall.

Ottawa Police Service issued a statement on April 6 seeking the public's assistance in locating Amareen. The police also urged citizens to contact them if Amareen is found, and announced they are accepting anonymous calls.

Just an hour after Amareen went missing, the police received a report of an unknown man entering the Ottawa River, which prompted an extensive search from the Dive and Rescue Unit. However, after a thorough investigation throughout the night, nothing was found.

Al Arabiya got hold of the Jordanian man's brother, who told the media outlet that he lost contact with Waleed Amareen on Friday evening. Aamreen's wife told the police that the family had first investigated his car.

The police also confirmed that Amareen's jacket was spotted near the river with his car keys inside, confirming that the 49-year-old was in the area before disappearing. Moreover, a tightly sealed letter was also found among the evidence, but the police refused to disclose its contents.
