ALBAWABA - Since the conflict erupted in Sudan in mid-April between the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces, a high number of rape and sexual harassment cases were reported.
The United States has released a statement condemning the pervasive conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) in Sudan calling it "deeply disturbing."
In the statement, the U.S. said that many victims in Sudan are accusing the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which is led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, commonly known as Hemedt, of committing conflict-related sexual violence attacks.

Furthermore, the American government also added that comes in different forms of violence including rape, gang rape, and gender-based violence against women and girls in West Darfur and other areas.
The statement reads: "We echo UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General Patten in calling on the RSF to condemn CRSV, commit to effective measures to prevent and address any acts of CRSV, and declare zero-tolerance for sexual violence."
It continued: "Accountability for sexual violence in conflict is a core priority for the U.S. government, as reflected in the Presidential Memorandum signed by President Biden in November 2022, which directs the use of all available tools — including legal, policy, diplomatic, and financial tools — to deter such violence."
in July, Save the Children said that Teenage girls are being sexually assaulted and raped by armed combatants in "alarming numbers" calling for an immediate halt to sexual attacks.
