Ahlam is stealing the show once again this series of Arab Idol. From catty comments to outrageous outfits and silly stunts, the UAE’s most notorious loud-mouthed diva has made the region’s favorite talent show all about her.
Stealing more air time than the contestants themselves, ‘Ahlam Idol’ is pulling in thousands of viewers every week and taking up acres of column inches across the region. But while she might be the star of the show, Ahlam continues to inspire hate in Idol fans everywhere.
Here’s everything you need to know about the superstar judge we love to hate!

Even before Arab Idol II had kicked off, rival judges Ragheb Alama and Ahlam were at each others throats over who was to be head of the judging committee. Some unkind folks suggested that the spat was nothing more than a shameless publicity stunt, designed to drum up ratings for the show. But we’d never say that here...
There’s nothing like a good cat fight to keep a show entertaining. When MBC brought in the delightful Nancy Ajram as the fourth judge on the Arab Idol show, fellow judge Ahlam was compelled to shed the pounds and buy a new wardrobe, just to keep up with the newby. Rumor has it the move was executed by the broadcaster to keep the show fresh.
Never more than an arm’s length from her smart phone, Ahlam is considered a social media animal as she tweets away the hours, plying her adoring fans with frivolous validation requests on her latest outfits. Lo and behold she’s one of the most talked about artists on Twitter #FML #justkiddin
Will these two give it a rest! “Warring” judges Ahlam and Ragheb Alama are never more comfortable than when they’re at each other’s throats wielding a Louis Vuitton handbag. The problem is, the conflict is an invention of the ratings-hungry producers at MBC, no more real than Haifa Wehbe’s nose.
Ahlam is never far away from a celeb spat and in Arab Idol the feisty diva gives wannabe stars a taste of what they’ll be up against if they make it big. Last season, she introduced contestants Mohammed Taher and Hasan Kharbash to star-style catty comments and in this round Egyptian contestant, Sabreen Al-Najili, is facing her wrath.
Arab Idol might claim to be all about the music but like last series, Ahlam’s frivolous fashion choices have once again stolen the show. Spending cash like its going out of fashion, the diva reportedly dropped a cool $1 million on a necklace and ring combo that must have added some serious weight to the super-skinny singer.
Ahlam has never been afraid to voice an opinion or two but it seems this series she has well and truly waved goodbye to the notion of ‘think before you speak.’ Even scandal-hungry producers were shocked when the loud-mouthed starlet got political, telling a Kurdish contestant that she was from Iraq not Kurdistan.
‘Arab Idol’ is looking more like ‘Ahlam Idol’ this year, as the Emirati diva makes sure that while the cameras are rolling they’re pointing her way. From admiring her own reflection to spraying on perfume, it seems the camera can’t get enough of the star’s mundane moves. But many fans of the show have had enough!
