Spinneys prepares to open first branch in Jordan

Leading Middle East supermarket chain Spinneys has commenced fit out works on its first branch in Jordan, a 5,000m² unit located at TAJ, the prestigious upscale center nearing completion in Jordan’s Abdoun district. 

Spinneys is an anchor tenant of the new center, which is on track to open for trading in the third quarter of 2011 following months of intense construction activity. 

Mr. Michael Wright, the CEO of Spinneys, said: “We are proud to be entering into the Jordanian market, which has much to offer in terms of our strategic expansion in the region. We have specifically chosen TAJ to be our flagship entry store into the Jordanian market, in light of the center’s exceptional location and emphasis on providing visitors with a unique experience unsurpassed in Jordan. The management team at TAJ confirmed that following this milestone; many other units will be commencing fit out works shortly, paving the way to a successful and strong opening. 

TAJ has already signed a wide range of tenants including many well-known international and regional brands, some opening in Jordan for the first time. TAJ will include over 180 retail outlets, a 12 screen movie theatre, kids zones, arcade centers and an extensive food and beverage offering.

Spinneys is expected to create approximately 300 new jobs at TAJ. The center expects to attract more than 7 Million visitors per year.
