Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has criticized the club’s leadership for its decline since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013, pointing to the team's significant downturn in recent years.
Currently a co-owner of Salford City, Giggs expressed his frustration over Manchester United's inability to regain its dominance in the Premier League and other major competitions, both domestic and international.
Giggs: "Manchester United in a Bad Place, Miles Away from the Top"
Giggs believes poor decision-making from the club’s management has been the primary cause of a decade of underachievement. During an appearance at "An Evening with Ryan Giggs," he said: “Like any business, recruitment has to be right, and it hasn’t been for the last ten years. We’ve made one bad decision after another.”
Despite the challenges, Giggs voiced his support for current manager Ruben Amorim, stressing that the team's success depends on providing the coach with the necessary support and time. He added, “We are in a bad place right now, but I really like the manager. Given the chance and time, he can bring success back to the club.”
Giggs emphasized the importance of signing the right players, stating, “If we get the right players and give the manager the time he needs, we have a chance to improve. But at the moment, we are far off. We're nowhere near the top.”
He further explained that Manchester United is currently in a difficult situation, but believes things can turn around quickly if the correct decisions are made moving forward.
