The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has nominated Oman's international football referee Ahmed Al Kaf to officiate the first leg of the prestigious AFC Champions League final in Jeonju, South Korea on November 19.
Al Kaf will be in charge of the match between South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors and UAE's Al Ain at the Jeonju World Cup Stadium. He will be assisted by Omani assistant referees, Rashid al Ghaithi and Abdullah al Jardani. The return leg of the final will be held at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, UAE on November 26.
The Oman Football Association (OFA) in a statement congratulated the trio of Omani referees on their nominations and said that the selection underlines the 'high-level of respect' the Omani officials enjoy at the continental level.
Earlier in January, the AFC had awarded Oman's Abu Bakar al Amri with the AFC Special Award for Referees. Amri was the assistant referee during the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup final in Auckland, New Zealand.
