Manchester City face a daunting task as they head to Santiago Bernabeu for the second leg of their Champions League play-off against Real Madrid, having suffered a 3-2 defeat at the Etihad in a dramatic late collapse.

Manager Pep Guardiola appears to have little faith in his side’s ability to overturn the deficit, admitting: "If you ask me about our chances, I’d say just 1%. But as long as there is a chance, no matter how small, we will try."

Despite their loss to Real Madrid, Manchester City bounced back in the Premier League with a convincing victory, fueled by a hat-trick from Omar Marmoush and a late goal from James McAtee, moving them back into the top four.

However, Guardiola remains concerned ahead of their trip to the Spanish capital to face Carlo Ancelotti’s powerhouse side.

"We have been miles away from our best this season. Today, we played well, but that doesn’t change the reality of our performances this season."

Injury Concerns Over Haaland and Defensive Doubts

City’s injury worries continue, with doubts surrounding Erling Haaland, who limped off with a knee problem in their last game. Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake are also in question, potentially forcing Guardiola to rely on Abdukodir Khusanov, who impressed despite struggling in his debut against Chelsea.

Guardiola commented on the defender’s development:

"His first game against Chelsea was tough, but he was much better today. He is extremely fast, but his decision-making needs improvement. He is still young and settling in well."
