2.2 percent growth projected for ESCWA in 2001
The Secretary General of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Mervat Tillawi stated that ESCWA member countries are expected to record a decelerated growth rate of 2.2 percent by the end of 2001 compared with 3.4 percent in 2000, reported Al-Watan .
Arabian Gulf states, excluding Iraq, are expected to achieve no more than a one percent GDP growth rate in 2002 compared with 2.1 percent in 2001 due to declining international oil prices. — (menareport.com)
