Air Arabia wins World Airline Award for best low-cost carrier in Middle East
Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East and North Africa, has won the 2007 World Airline Award for “Best Low-Cost Airline in the Middle East.” This honour comes in recognition of Air Arabia’s exceptional level of overall passenger satisfaction.
These awards, based on global, independent passenger surveys of airline standards carried out by Skytrax Research, are the outcome of the measurement of more than 35 different aspects of customer satisfaction levels of an airline's product and service standards. As part of the World Airline Awards selection process, in excess of 14.8 million passengers, of more than 90 nationalities, were polled.
Kyle Haywood, Commercial Director of Air Arabia, said: “We are extremely pleased to have been named ‘Best Low-Cost Airline in the Middle East,’ especially because this honour is based on the judgment of our passengers. This award further recognizes the value-for money service we provide to our passengers and indeed sets new goals to achieve in meeting the needs of our customers here in the Middle East and across the world.”
Air Arabia has served more than 4.6 million passengers since the carrier was launched in October 2003. Passenger traffic reached 646,000 during the second quarter of 2007, up 11.5 per cent compared to 580,000 passengers during the first quarter of 2007.
The World Airline Award comes on the heels of international recognition of the carrier’s outstanding operational performance. In June 2007, Air Arabia was named winner of the award for Operational Excellence 2005-2007 by Airbus, one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers. Air Arabia was selected for this prestigious honour from among all global airlines operating fewer than 50 A320 aircraft. In January 2007, the carrier received a special certificate from Airbus for achieving the highest average level of A320 fleet utilisation between 2005-2006.
