A €2 billion aide-memoire on partnership for growth and development was signed Tuesday in Algiers by Algeria's Finance Ministers Abdellatif Benachenhou of Algeria and Nicolas Sarkozy of France.

In his statement to the press shortly after the signature ceremony, Nicolas Sarkozy conveyed: "This signature materialises an extremely important and concrete €2 billion partnership, which helps Algeria reduce its debt and France accompany its growth." "This agreement brings the Algerian debt converted into investments to €300 million, added to €700 of funds at a privileged interest rate and €1 billion of funds designed specifically for Algeria by Coface," noted the French minister.
