The number of jobs in the Algerian industrial sector could rise from 340,000 to 600,000 in 2010, if it manages to attract investments of up to $5.8 billion in the next five years, Algeria's Industry Minister El Hachemi Djaaboub has said.
According to APS, Djaaboub said that "Algeria could take up this challenge if by 2009 it manages to draw industrial investments of up to $5.8 billion."
Regarding the production of private cars in Algeria, which the first experience in partnership with Italian car manufacturer FIAT in Tiaret proved a failure, the Algerian minister pointed out that "Tiaret's complex, which cost the state AD10 billion, is prepared to manufacture cars if the Algerian company locates a new partner."
