Algeria incurs consecutive losses annually due to pollution estimated at US$3.5 billion, Algeria's Environment Minister Cherif Rahmani said Monday, according to APS

"The weakness in the fight against pollution costs Algeria US$3.5 billion annually, that is 7 percent of its Gross National Product (GNP)," Rahmani was quoted as saying.

"Our objective is to reach a maximum threshold for pollution not exceeding US$1.5 billion a year," noted the minister, adding that "pollution is free and its consequences very expensive." (menareport.com)
