Bahrain-China trade $1.2bn in nine months
The volume of trade exchange between China and Bahrain during the period of nine months in 2012 (until September) amounted to USD 1.2bn, it was revealed.
This was announced by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Zhai Jun at a meeting with a Bahraini Parliamentary delegation in Beijing yesterday.
The three member delegation headed by MP Hassan Bokhamas, which includes MPs Ahmed Al Saati and Abdulhamid Al Mir are in China on an official visit until Dec 24, at the invitation of the Chinese People's Assembly.
"Mr. Jun noted that the volume reflected the magnitude of the common interest projects supported by the Government of Bahrain," MP Al Saati told DT.
"We also discussed a number of important topics that were linked between the two countries and Mr. Jun on behalf of the people and government of the Republic of China shared concern at the recent spate of unfortunate episodes in the Kingdom. He also pledged the full support of China to Bahrain and lauded the brave efforts of the Kingdom to strive through the tough phase," said Mr Al Saati.
Mr. Jun said that China will not hesitate to support the Kingdom in the future and was looking forward to unify positions with diplomacy in international forums, stressing that the comprehensive development of any country vitally depended on stabilizing its security.
"He also re-emphasized China's commitment to Bahrain in its reforms march and to maintain stability and pledged to support all measures adopted by Bahrain in this process," he added.
Mr Al Saati expressed regret at the foreign interventions in the affairs of the Kingdom and stressed the importance of economic cooperation with China.
MP Bokhamas explained to the Chinese officials on the recent developments on the human rights aspects in the Kingdom and on the parliamentary committees' dealing with the same.
Mr Al Mir expressed his regret at the presence of foreign agendas against Bahrain and its citizens and praised the depth of excellent trade relations with China since the sixties.
