A pledge to build government houses in Zallaq was given by Bahrain's Works and Housing Minister Fahmi Al Jowder Saturday.
Mr Al Jowder said that there was no spare land at the moment in the area, but the ministry would try its best to buy private plots.
He said work on new sewerage, electricity and water networks in the village was finished. According to Gulf Daily News, Al Jowder was visiting Zallaq to speak with locals about their needs and requirements.
Al Jowder was taken on a tour of the village.
Bahrain's five municipal councils each selected a village to be remodelled by the ministry. The four other villages to be renovated are Diraz, Samaheej, Salahia and Nuwaidrat.
The five councils are working on rebuilding or renovating thousands of homes under a five-year programme, costing up to BD120 million.
