More than 300 delegates attended the first meeting of the Supply Chain and Logistics Group at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) yesterday. The meeting was chaired by Member of the Board and Head of DCCI’s Economic Affairs and Commercial Activities Committee, Anwar Gargash and Deputy Director General of DCCI Ahmed Al-Banna.

The Supply Chain and Logistics Group, the 12th new business group to have been set up with the legal backing of the Chamber, will represent a variety of industry sectors, including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, airlines, ocean and surface transporters, bankers, insurance companies, and forwarders.

The Supply Chain and Logistics Group will re-convene at DCCI on March 25 to elect a representative committee. Some 300 supply chain and logistics businesses are presently members of DCCI and the Supply Chain and Logistics Group (SCLG) but the Chamber predicts membership to increase dramatically in the next two years.

By 2005, group sector members of DCCI and SCLG are expected to exceed 4,000 or 5 per cent of the Chamber’s total membership. — (menareport.com)
