Drake & Scull wins US$21 million contract in Sudan

Leading Middle East MEP contractor Drake & Scull has just been awarded a US$21 million contract to provide MEP services for a major new building development in Khartoum - The Wahat Al Khartoum Towers project - Drake & Scull’s first contract in Sudan.

 

Being built in the heart of Khartoum for the Wahat Al Khartoum Urban Development Company, the project comprises four office towers, a shopping centre with underground parking and a green park area.

 

Drake & Scull’s Area Director, Mr Tawfiq Abu-Soud says it is a prestigious contract to win first up and he is looking forward to delivering the completed job at the end of November 2008. He also stated that the newly established Drake & Scull office in Sudan is actively pursuing other contracts in the country.

“This will be one of the more striking building complexes in Khartoum’s CBD, which is undergoing a major transformation,” he said. “It is considered to be the largest single building in Sudan with a built area of around 140,000m2.”

 

Designed by architects Dar Consult, the project’s main contractor is Turkish Emirates for Construction Company (TEC).

 

Drake & Scull will be involved in the design detailing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the chillers yard, air handling units, pumping plant, drainage, hot and cold water system, fire fighting system, electrical distribution, 11 kV switchgear and transformers, fire detection system, lighting systems, and low current systems for the complete project.
