In keeping with the requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Dubai International Airport has received the aerodrome certificate from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). It is one of the first airport in the region to have been awarded this certification.
Last year ICAO, responsible for the safety in global air operations, stipulated that all international airports should be certified to ensure provision of safe and adequate aerodrome facilities as mandated in ICAO convention. Conforming to the ICAO regulations, the GCAA, the regulator for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), established a licensing program for airports in the UAE. — (menareport.com)
