Dubai Media Incorporated (DMI) will set up a modern news centre at the Syrian television, a senior Dubai media official announced on Saturday. ''DMI will offer a grant of US$ 8 million to build and equip a high advanced news centre. The newscast centre will be set up with the assistance of UAE expertise. The centre will make a qualitative leap in the standard of TV news in the Syrian Television,'' announced DMI Managing Director Ahmed Al Sheikh at a joint press conference with Syrian Information Minister Mohsen Bilal.
''The centre, which will have a US$ 4 million state-of-the-art studio, will be ready by mid-2008,''he added, according to WAM.
He explained that 20 TV journalists and technicians from the Syrian Television will be trained at DMI. According to agreement, the Syrian TV will be provided with sophisticated equipment to enable it properly cover the upcoming Arab summit which Damascus will host next March.
