Gulf region petroleum corporation Emarat has recently installed strategic asset management solution, MAXIMO, to enhance the management of its maintenance activities across different sites. The solution has been implemented by eSolutions, the Middle East agent of MRO Software, an international provider of e-Business solutions for strategic asset management.
The new solution has enabled Emarat, oil and gas distributor in Dubai and Northern Emirates, to centralize, manage and control all its maintenance activities, contributing toward maximizing availability of its assets and reducing operational costs, according to a company press release.
Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) was established in 1981 to subsidize oil by-products and assume responsibility for the marketing and distribution of petroleum products in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Established, its corporate philosophy was to fuel growth for the nation.
The heart of Emarat's business is petroleum retailing to fuel the different types of vehicles in the UAE. Emarat's 174 service stations offer two types of gasoline Super (198 Octane) and Special (95 Octane) for vehicles and one type of Gas Oil for Diesel vehicles.
Emarat began fuelling airlines in 1992, when it set up Emojet—a joint venture with Mobil—at the Dubai International Airport. In a separate development, Emarat's first independent Aviation Fuel Depot at Sharjah International Airport called Emarat Air fuels was commissioned in 1997, followed more recently by a similar facility at the Fujairah International Airport.
Since 1982, Emarat has been marketing lubricants conforming to international standards. To enable Emarat to exercise direct control over the quality of lubricants, the corporation bought a 20 percent equity in a lubricant blending plant based in Jebel Ali called Melubco.
The corporation distributes its range of petroleum products by its own fleet of road tankers from five terminals owned and operated by Emarat. The terminals with total capacity of 2.3 millions lbs are strategically located in the UAE within the Gulf at Jebel Ali, Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al-Khaimah, as well as outside the Gulf at Fujairah.
Emarat also operates it's own time charter vessel providing logistic support shipping products from refineries in the Gulf for delivery to its UAE terminals for domestic supplies, bunkering and regional trading activities.
The Corporation owns and operates the largest natural gas distribution system in the Northern Emirates. Natural gas from the Sajaa Field is measured, compressed and distributed to power stations and major industrial users. Monitored and controlled from the Sajaa Control Center, the system currently distributes more than 200 million cubic feet of gas per day.
As part of its continuous expansion into other sectors, and to meet the growing consumer demand for LPG cylinders in Dubai, Emarat commissioned a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) bottling plant at its facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. — (menareport.com)
