Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) has introduced Skycart II hydrant servicer to its operations at Dubai International Airport. The solar-powered, self-propelled hydrant servicer, the only one of its kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will be dedicated to the new Emirates airline terminal.

"Skycart II incorporates simplicity of operation with the latest in digital technology and is a sensible alternative to chassis mounted ground support equipment," explained Hussain Sultan, Group Chief Executive and Board Member, ENOC. "This investment demonstrates our commitment to protecting the environment and the future needs of Dubai International Airport."

"It does not burn fuel and, unlike most electric vehicles does not require extensive charge per use," said Tayyeb Al Mulla, Chief Executive, ENOC International Refining and Marketing. "The combination of solar panels and product-powered alternators, means the batteries are always charged and ready for service. This does away with the necessary downtime needed by conventional electric ground support equipment.”

"The self-propelled design also eliminates the need for a conventional chassis, which means we don’t need to stock or replace windows, door cranks, door handles, windshield wipers, motor oils, spark plugs or tune-up items. The fuel-operated control system and hydrant charging keeps the Skycart II completely self-contained so no air compressor is needed," he added.

Skycart II is equipped with a charging system of 12 solar panels as well as two 13 amp and 24 volt alternators that are driven by a vane motor, which provides additional charging during aircraft fuelling.

ENOC operates at Dubai International Airport via its subsidiary EPPCO Aviation. This subsidiary's core business is the receipt, storage and delivery of jet fuel to customers at Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah international airports as well as military air bases in the Northern Emirates. It features most major international airlines, including Emirates, among its client base. — (menareport.com)
