A shortage of housing units and a sharp increase in rents have become a serious problem for many Fujairah residents, according to tenants and real estate firms, cited by Gulf News. Despite a steady rise in residential housing projects around the city of Fujairah, many feel they are being priced out of the market.
Halmy Al Menshawi, a real estate agent said the market needs strong regulation to stop "cowboy" activities which affects their business negatively and robs tenant of a good deal.
