Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading international IT provider, continued to outperform the market growth in the 2nd quarter of 2004, according to the latest preliminary IDC PC market figures in terms of unit shipments. FSC registered a year-on-year overall growth of 42.5 per cent in the PC and server market, more than double the industry growth in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) markets.
Sector-wise, the company recorded a remarkable growth of 100 per cent in notebooks and 25.2 per cent in desktop PCs in the EMEA market, against the market growth of 29.3 per cent and 16.7 per cent respectively.
"The industry-beating performance in the second quarter once again demonstrates that Fujitsu Siemens Computers' strategy of focusing on mobility products and Intel-based servers continued to yield results," said Ahmed Khalil, Regional Manager, Middle East, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Further, the strategic targeting of SME and consumer segments is having a positive impact on the company's bottom-line. The 2nd quarter results indicate the we are on the right track and will serve to inspire our teams to work harder in our core areas, specially in notebooks."
The year-on-year growth of 42.5 per cent in the PC and server segments is attributed to the company's focus on developing products driven directly by customer needs. In a survey commissioned earlier this year, customers confirmed that corporate refresh and mobility were two priorities in the coming year and consequently Fujitsu Siemens Computers has gone an extra mile to deliver products that meet these challenges.
The survey was conducted on behalf of FSC by KRC Research. (menareport.com)
