Furthering their commitment to the Maritime industry in the region, Dubai Maritime City confirmed that they would be the lead sponsors of the Gulf’s first conference on boating markets, ‘The Gulf Boating Conference’.  The two day event runs from 15 – 16 March, with seminars given by boating enthusiasts, marine experts and international and regional senior management within the marine and property industry.  The events of the first day culminate with a lunch hosted by Dubai Maritime City.

“The sponsorship of these two days of seminars is crucial to the marine industry as a whole, particularly in light of the new offshore developments in the Middle East.  As a multidimensional maritime hub, we will support the rapidly growing maritime activities in the region, be they for commercial or recreational use.  As a country, the UAE has become one of the main trading hubs on a worldwide basis, and now we are adding to that the expansion of marine leisure facilities.  This in turn means that the regional boating industry needs to be aware of the importance of services provided by Dubai, which will help shape and develop this new and burgeoning industry,” said Amer Ali, Project manager for Dubai Maritime City.

At present The Gulf is one of the fastest growing leisure boating markets in the world, with strong growth being forecast by industry experts for the region which has the largest number of new marina developments in the world.  The first Gulf Boating Conference will take place alongside the Dubai International Boat Show to provide delegates with an opportunity to meet with key influencers within the industry and to provide an open forum through seminars and panel debates about the increasing boating industry needs and the characteristics of a new a rapidly expanding market.

“Our experience and success in organising the Dubai International Boat Show has clearly demonstrated that the marine industry in Dubai is set for tremendous growth,” said Dubai World Trade Centre Director General Helal Saeed Khalfan Al Marri.

“By working together with Dubai Maritime City we are looking to capitalise on our respective areas of expertise and build events that address key sectors of the industry including commercial shipping, shipbuilding, ship design, marine management and marine services amongst others,” Mr. Al Marri added.

The Dubai Maritime City committed in November 2004, through a Memorandum of Understanding with Dubai World Trade Centre, to support and develop a strategic plan to create and organise exhibitions, conferences and events that centre around the increasingly high profile maritime industry.  This sponsorship of the Gulf Boating Conference is one of the major steps in this agreement, which demonstrates Dubai Maritime City’s dedication to the industry and the region.
