Iran's revenue from pistachio exports to various destinations, including European Union states, went up by 49.5 percent in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 20) compared to similar period the year before.

Deputy Agriculture Minister Mohammad-Ali Tahmasebi said that revenues from Iran's pistachio export stood at $92 million in the first two months, IRNA reported. Tahmasebi said Iran's pistachio exports rose by 19 percent to 21,347 tons in the period under study.

He ruled out reports that Iran's pistachio exports had been blocked by European Union, saying the union had only called on Iran to adopt steps to lower the percentage of aflatoxin in its pistachio consignments. (menareport.com)
