Italy recently urged Dubai World to invest in Italian hotels, resorts and ports in an effort to expand economic joint ventures between the two.
"Italy is seeking to strengthen its economic relations with the UAE and there are many investment opportunities available for Dubai World, especially in the field of developing and operating marine terminals in Italian ports,” said Emma Bonino, Italian Minister of Trade and European Affairs, according to Khaleej Times.
“DP World is highly regarded around the world and we believe Italy could offer new opportunities for them.”
"The Italian real estate sector is also witnessing continuous growth and provides opportunities for Dubai World to expand its international investment portfolio. Italy enjoys a strategic geographical location and acts as a major gateway to the European continent. We look forward to cooperating with a large and diversified group like Dubai World and gain from their considerable experience and expertise," added Bonino.
