Japan controls 52 percent of car imports in Saudi Arabia
Statistics recently released by the Saudi Customs Authority has revealed that Japan was responsible for 52 percent of the overall Saudi car imports in 1999, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat. Additional figures showed that the USA controlled 14 percent of these imports, while South Korea supplied 10 percent.
Further statistics showed that the kingdom had imported 234,274 cars in 1999, valued at 12.63 billion Saudi riyals. This quantity of imported vehicles reflects a 16.6 percent fall compared with the previous year. In 1998, the number of cars imported by Saudi Arabia totaled 271,894. —(Albawaba-MEBG)
