Middle East Electricity beats visitor record

The first annual Middle East Electricity 2003 - the region's power generation and electricity industry show and conference - ends its three-day run, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC) with organizers IIR Exhibitions reporting a 100 percent increase in visitors.

IIR said attendance figures for the first two-days of the event were double those in 2002, justifying the decision to make Middle East Electricity an annual event. "There has been a large visitor turnout from outside the UAE, particularly neighboring GCC states and Iran, confirming the importance of the show to the region's rapidly expanding power sector," said Sarah Woodbridge, Exhibitions Director, Power and Energy Division, IIR Exhibitions, organizers of Middle East Electricity.

And Woodbridge said interest in next year's show is already running high, with all the major industry players rebooked for 2004. Middle East Electricity features many products new to the region, including an innovative telemetry shield diffuser (TSD), designed and developed by Southpaw Manufacturing, the show’s only US-based exhibitor.
