An average occupancy rate of some 80.79 per cent was reported for Abu Dhabi's hospitality industry, during the second quarter of the current year 2006. The figure also includes hotel apartments, which achieved the highest average occupancy rate, registering more than 90 per cent during the same period in review.
The top occupancy accommodations of the industry were followed by four-star and three-star hotels, which recorded 88 per cent, according to Khaleej Times. Five-star hotels achieved slightly lower occupancy rate of some 77.5 per cent.
The occupancy rate in Abu Dhabi emirate reached a high point in April with an impressive average of some 90 per cent, recently released data from the Studies and Statistics Department of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) revealed. The figure then dropped somewhat, sliding to 84.5 per cent in May and 84 per cent in June.
Abu Dhabi hotels also performed well during the second quarter, recording an average occupancy of 86.3 per cent, with the month of April reaching 89.7 per cent, thus outperforming May and June with 84.4 per cent and 83.9 per cent respectively.
The figures are welcome news for the ADTA and the tourism sector performance in the emirate, as many investors are expected to be encouraged by the positive performance recently recorded.
