The value of real estate deals during March 2005 in Oman amounted to more than OR36 million, reported the Omani newspaper, Al-Watan (April 17, 2005).
According to the secretary of real estate registration at the Omani ministry of housing, water and electricity, total taxes levied upon real estate transactions during March hit 618.882 Omani Riyals ($1.6 million). Contracts for buying properties hit 17.200.49 million Omani Riyals ($44.6 million), while trade-in contracts reached 64.400 thousands Omani Riyals ($167,272), and mortgage contracts came to 18.781.104 million Omani Riyals ($48.5 million).
The number of land plots registered for the first time in March was 3612, while number of lands owners in the Sultanate among the citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council States amounted to 57 during March.
