THE One has signed a contract with GAC Logistics, a global logistics services provider, to be its storage provider in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ). The contract, effective at the beginning of this year, provides support for THE One while they build their own regional distribution center in Jebel Ali Free Zone, a shift from their present Al-Quoz local distribution center.
With THE One’s rapid growth throughout the region, seen last year with the opening of their Kuwait and Sharjah stores, the necessity to engage in the new development of warehousing and distribution facilities was a natural progression, according to a company press release.
Within the contract, THE One also has the use of GAC Logistics’ Free Zone warehousing facility, which allows indefinite stock holding. “Our aim is to manage the supply chain and reduce the logistics cost, enabling us to pass this saving on to the customers. GAC Logistics’ presence in the free zone allows for smooth distribution of THE One’s products without added duty,” said Jim Preston, THE One’s logistics manager.
With the first store opening in 1996, THE One is a furniture retailer in the Middle East. THE One currently operates seven outlets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh and Kuwait with new store openings planned for Muscat and Doha this year.
GAC Logistics, the freight forwarding and distribution division of the GAC Group, specializes in a supply chain and logistics solutions. These include air and sea freight, warehousing and distribution, door-to-door transportation, project logistics, international moving and courier services. — (menareport.com)
