Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the popular hotel apartment among visiting tourists and businessmen in the heart of Dubai, hosted the stay of 400 athletes from 45 countries who competed at the recently concluded 4th Fazza International Powerlifting Championship held at the Dubai Club for Special Needs.
Moussa El Hayek, COO Al Bustan Centre and Residence, said: “We are pleased to welcome the athletes to Dubai and to our property. The tournament was a very important sports event because it recognized the importance of promoting sports among athletes with disabilities. We applaud the initiative by H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai in launching the championship which has become an important landmark to sports for the disabled!”
Powerlifters from Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameron, Egypt, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Libya, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Holland, Nigeria, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan joined athletes from the host nation during the week-long competition.
The 4th Fazza International Powerlifting Championships was organized by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the UAE Association of Sports for the Handicapped and the Dubai Club for Special Needs. The event was attended by H. H. Thani Juma Berregad, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee Fazaa’ Championships, Majid Abdullah Al Usaimi, Championship Director, Khalid Al Suweidi, Vice President of Fazza Tournaments office and Hamad Beljafleh, Head of Public Relations.
