FGB, one of the leading banks in the UAE, won the ‘Innovation in Learning and Development’ award and was runner up as the ‘Employer of Year’ at the 2015 Middle East HR Excellence Awards. FGB representatives received the awards at a gala dinner recently held in Dubai.
The Middle East HR Excellence Awards recognizes and celebrates the achievements of individuals, departments, teams and organisations that have contributed to the growth and development of the HR profession in the Middle East. The awards celebrate top HR talent in the region and honour HR professionals across sectors for their contribution to creating a high-performing workforce of the future. The awards were judged by a panel of leading HR professionals from across the world.
The ‘Employer of the Year’ recognition commended FGB’s efforts to ensure it is an employer of choice to top talent. Over the past year, FGB has implemented a framework for its Employee Value Proposition bringing this to life through a series of programmes and initiatives designed to engage employees, enable performance, attract and retain top talent, strengthen the bank’s international capabilities, nurture Emirati talent and fully align staff to FGB’s strategy.
FGB received the ‘Innovation in Learning and Development’ award in recognition of its ‘Service First’ programme, which directly links the learning needs of FGB employees to the needs of the business. Between 2014 and 2015, over 7,000 employees participated in 400 workshops, generating over 200 service improvement ideas.
Noora Al Reyasi, Head of Learning and Development at FGB, added: “We are committed to investing in our people through a wide range of innovative and interactive learning and development options, delivered through our state-of-the-art FGB Business School. We are particularly proud to be recognised for our ‘Service First’ programme which is an important cornerstone of our customer-centric focus across the FGB Group.”
Gareth Powell, Head of Human Resources at FGB, said: “The award and recognition received acknowledges FGB’s commitment to delivering on our people promise of ‘Growing Together to Be First’. We have embarked on a well-planned journey to build a unique and compelling culture that drives our growth ambitions. We are achieving this through continuously investing in our peoples’ development so that we stay ahead of the market. It is our belief that by taking care of our employees, we encourage them to perform at pace, adapt to change quickly in order to make a positive difference to our customers every day. I would like to dedicate these awards to all FGB colleagues, who remain the driving force behind our success.”
The Middle East HR Excellence Awards took place as part of the 2015 HR Summit and Expo, which is the region’s largest gathering of HR professionals. The HR Summit and Expo brought together some of the world’s best thinkers and HR movers, who delivered a range of keynotes addressing key HR strategic challenges.
