Turkish Airlines honours travel agencies in Abu Dhabi for contribution to 3.9 per cent passenger growth

Turkish Airlines, Europe’s best airline*, recorded a positive growth of 3.9 per cent in passenger traffic from Abu Dhabi in 2014, compared to the previous year.

To celebrate the achievement, Turkish Airlines hosted the Annual Travel Agencies Awards and gala dinner event to honour travel agents in Abu Dhabi. The event, held at Khalidiya Palace hotel by Rotana, recognised partners for their continual support and contribution to driving not only the growth in passenger traffic from the Emirate, but also contributing to the 6.44 per cent total passenger growth in GCC markets compared to the previous year.

Mehmet Akalin, General Manager, Turkish Airlines, in Abu Dhabi, said: “We are delighted to honour the travel industry for their continual support and contribution to the airline’s robust expansion in the Emirate which led to frequencies being increased from Abu Dhabi in 2014.”

He added:Ourposition as ‘Europe’s Best Airline,’ increasing connectivity, enhanced services and the rising popularity of Turkey as a holiday and business destination continue to attract a growing number of travellers from Abu Dhabi. We wouldn’t be reporting such impressive growth without the support of our partners.”

In addition to plaques of appreciation, five specific achievements were awarded, with ‘Best Increase Award’, presented to Akbar Travels of India Private, ‘Best Business Class Award’ presented to Kanoo Travel, ‘1st Top Seller Agency’ presented to Omeir Travel Agency, ‘2nd Top Seller Agency’ presented to Nirvana Travel, and ‘3rd Top Seller Agency’ presented to Dnata.
