Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) upgraded its network setup using Foundry Networks products. Established in 1974, QAPCO is a petrochemical joint venture project initiated by Qatar General Petroleum Corporation (QGPC) to utilize the ethane gas associated with petroleum production.

Their network was built with several BigIron 15000 switches. Standard office applications as well as factory telemetry applications run on the network. The BigIrons were connected together via multiple GE links with a clear and easy upgrade path to 10 Gigabit Ethernet in the future. The BigIrons were used to switch between the numerous VLANs on QAPCO's network as well as to provide wire speed non-blocking access between the clients and their servers.

This network setup was completed by Omnix Qatar (Foundry Networks Authorised Reseller). Omnix is a specialized Information Technology System Integrator representing major Information Technology (IT) vendors. Foundry Networks, Inc. is a provider of enterprise and service provider switching, routing and Web traffic management solutions. — (menareport.com)
