Saudi computer piracy losses at $1 million
A recent study estimated that losses due to computer piracy in Saudi Arabia amounted to more than one million dollars last year, Al-Watan newspaper reported. The study also showed that illegally duplicated computer programs constitute 73 percent of the total available programs in Saudi markets.
Market sources predict that implementing intellectual property protection measures, recently passed by the Saudi authorities, is expected to lower computer program piracy rate in the kingdom by as much as 20 percent. — (MENA Report)
