Just what the doctor ordered: Shabola serves up a new song as he recovers in hospital
Egytpian folk singer Shaaban Abdel Rahim, known as Shabola, was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Al Qasr Al Aiini Hospital in Cairo after the star had severe chest pains.
This is the fourth time the singer has been admitted to ICU with chest pains, and concerns are gwroing for the health of the Egyptian superstar. Doctors have said that excess smoking is causing his condition. The singer has previously announced that he had quit smoking after his first time in hospital, but fans and doctors alike think otherwise and are worried for the singer.
Shabola has recently announced that he will be releasing a new single, “Al Isaea Lilrasool Mish Usool” (Insulting the Prophet is not Ethical). The song is his response to the recent “Innocence of Muslims” film that caused violent protests across the Arab world with the star rumoured to be expressing the anger that many Muslims felt because of the film.
Fans are now hoping that Shabola makes a speedy recovery and finally quits smoking so they can see the legendary singer perform the new song live.
