Emirates SkyCargo is stepping up its cargo capacity to Frankfurt, the cargo hub for Europe, with twice-weekly freighter services to meet the escalating demand from German trade and industry.
On September 10 the special inaugural flight will reach Frankfurt. Germany has large investments and on-going initiatives in the Middle East and emerging Far Eastern markets, especially in the bustling Chinese economy. It also exports large volumes of car parts, machinery, manufactured goods and industrial products to those markets. On the other hand, Germany continues to be one of the major exporting partners for Far Eastern countries, especially in the sectors of high quality fashion, luxury foodstuff and other consumer goods.
The new freighter services will add volumes over and above the current belly capacity in the airline's passenger aircraft. Emirates SkyCargo's capacity to and from Frankfurt will increase to 450 tons per week, underlining the importance of the trade tie-up between Dubai and Frankfurt.
Germany is Emirates' second largest operation in Europe, after the UK. As other Gulf airlines begin their tentative services to Germany, Emirates continues to show its confidence in Europe's largest economy by providing double dailies to Munich and Frankfurt and daily flights to Dusseldorf.
With the recent aircraft order announced at the Paris Air Show, Emirates now has 45 of the mammoth A380-800 double-deckers on order, two of which are freighters. This amounts to another boost to the German economy, as the fuselage and the flight-essential systems are assembled in Hamburg. — (menareport.com)
