According to Al-Fourat newspaper, the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity signed an agreement with Turkey's privately-owned Black Sea Wholesale Electricity Trade (KARTET) Company to expand its electrical power export to Iraq from current 200 megawatts to 1,000 megawatts within 6 months.

KARTET has already started investing in the necessary infrastructure to execute this contract. Turkey has begun selling electricity to Iraq to help relieve severe post-war power shortages there and also plans to begin supplying kerosene and water, the Turkish Energy Ministry said recently. The fact that new electrical equipment and devices have recently entered the Iraqi market increased impressively the demand for electricity in Iraq.
