UAE: Plans to build 'luxury' labor camp facilities

Growing shortage of construction labor lodgings in Dubai have prompted developers to come up with projects to build 'luxury' labor camp accommodation with facilities like maintenance, cleaning and shops.

Contractors are being invited to invest in UAE's first 'luxury' labor camp accommodation for construction workers, a construction magazine said.

For instance, developer 'Tameer Holding' is establishing "plush" accommodation consisting of a 1,000 rooms on a one million square feet development in Umm Al Quwain.

Other developers are also drawing up plans to set up similar new camps in anticipation of a licensing scheme covering the sector. The site for the above project has been chosen to service several mega projects in close proximity.
