Jordan Mobile Telephone Services (Fastlink) has commissioned US-based Stratex Networksto upgrade its current microwave infrastructure due to high traffic demands.
The recent agreement calls for Stratex Networks to replace the existing installed rings of Altium(R) 155 digital microwave radio product with new Altium MX 311 terminals, doubling the speed capacity of the rings. Once the upgrade is completed, the Altium 155 terminals will be repositioned to other locations where upgrades to 155 Mbps speed are now required.
The agreement includes services for the design, supply, installation, frequency planning,
interference calculations and equipment testing as well as a five-year maintenance agreement for the new radio systems.
Founded in 1995, Fastlink was the first operator to introduce mobile phone services into Jordan. Since its inception, Fastlink has driven penetration, achieving a strong subscriber growth, with the number of users currently totaling more than 680,000. — (menareport.com)
