Yemen plans cement production boost
Yemen is projected to produce a total of 5.5 million tons of cement in 2007 up from 1.541 million tons in 2003, the country's Minister of Trade and Industry, Khaled Rajeh Sheikh, said in remarks published on Satruday.
Sheikh said that the increase would cover the local market needs of cement that would reach 4.3 million tons in 2007.
He added that two cement factories would be established with capacity of 2.2 million tons.
The Public Corporation For Manufacturing and Marketing Cement has recently signed a number of agreements with British and Romanian companies for expanding the Bajil cement factory.
