World's youngest mayor: 15-year-old teenage girl in Palestine

A 15-year-old Palestinian girl took office as the mayor of a West Bank town and became the youngest person in the world to occupy this position.
As part of an initiative to empower youth and involve them in the decision-making process, Bashaer Othman will be the mayor of the town of Allar in the city of Tulkarm in the northwestern West Bank for two months.
Othman is in charge of all matters related to the municipality of Allar and which include supervising employees and signing all official documents with the exception of financial ones.
Othman is working under the supervision of elected mayor Sufian Shadid who expressed his enthusiasm for the teengar’s appointment as a step towards supporting youth.
“There are many ways of supporting youth other than financial means. First, we should make sure we remove obstacles that might stand in their way and with determination and perseverance we can do so,” he said.
For Othman, the new position constitutes a major challenge that she is hoping she can be up to.
“I want to go through this experience in order to be able to share it with other youth so that they can be prepared for running state institutions in the future,” she said.

She looks like a angel and self confident to perform her task. We wish her good success in life. She is the heir of Laila Khaled of Palestine leader.
The REAL story is that the mayor is a FEMALE.
Oh those rascally Muslims and their wiley ways. Trying to confuse us Westerners. How dare they buck our image of Muslims as Medieval fanatics!?
I do really appreciate it that a youth is governing a city. it's obviously amazing and great revolution inside the body of the government of the country. we have see in a positive side that youth are capable of leading and ruling. we, youth, have potentialities that will be in great achieving the goal of common good if we put them into action in the reality of our situations!
What is wrong with the Muslims.. pleading to Allah for his help and doing DIMWIT things like this one.. IDIOTS.. and those who stand by it are IDIOTS too!! JAHIL'S.
Humans may plead to whomever they want, in this case Allah (Arabic word for God) maybe in your case air or pathetically yourself. As for this being a ”dimwit” move I must say there is no other dimwit then yourself. How, in any sense, is the unwitty??! This is a youth empowerment exercise that will last only two months. It will be a real life experience for the young girl. Or would you rather her eat away at her braincells by playing lousy videogames?
I really have no problems with this. I really don't think a 15-year-old is a child any longer, and if she can do the job properly, I see no reason to oppose her just because of her age.
I have to wonder what the ultimate consciousness is.
Its one thing to empower youth, its another to empower youths to run state institutions.
I am not familiar with Palestine's State Institutions, however I am definitely aware of the Zionist oppression of Palestine. I am consciously aware that my simple act of living and buying products contributes to this oppression, and at times it makes me want to just be dead, because my very way of life is of an oppressor, simply for being a consumer in an "Imperialist, White Supremacist, Hetero-normative, Capitalist, Patriarchal" (Hooks) society .
My consciousness is to change that, through chopping at the roots. By ripping the roots of the system out of the dirt with a chain and a backhoe. For what though?
First off to end oppression
Second would be to create an environment that fosters the growth of the conscious awareness of one's self, in relation to their specific role in society.
Celebrates diverse, positive, individual expressions of humanity
Celebrates the study of our spiritual and physical nature while exploring their relationship together.
Ensures a critical analysis, that ensures a harmonious role in the eco systems we occupy
And encourages humility in place of shame.
My concern, is "The State of Palestine"'s Consciousness towards human affairs, just as it is every "state"
The fact that she is 15 starts a whole other understanding of culture and how that effect reinforcement of stratification, and if we could ever flourish as an amazing adaptation of matter.
F!@#, I just read way to much into it.
I love her, and I wish her the most beautiful life a human could have. I'm sorry that my life made your entire countries existence the way it is, the pain. I vow to you that I will do everything I can to help create a world where we can embrace diversity and admire it, and spread love and enlightenment. From my heart, I am truly sorry
I don't support this at all. It would be different if it was a young adult, but she's merely a child.....
