Arab men rush in: Syrian beauties left homeless make prize brides

It began with rumors of the Muslim Brotherhood’s influence in Jordan and has spread across the Arab world. Syrian refugees, particularly those of the young and female variety, are becoming a commodity for Arab men, with many offering to marry those in need.
But don’t be fooled: this is not a purely altruistic gesture. Syrian women are known as the beauties of the region and having run away from the massacres of their own country they are left vulnerable and needy. Men who would otherwise have no chance with these highly sought after ladies have been opportunistically taking their chances.
Now the backlash has begun and Syrian activists have launched a campaign on social media networks calling for the marriage proposals to come to a halt. The campaign, established by Syrian activist Miznah Duraid, under the name ‘Refugee Captives’, aims to educate Syrian parents to stop them marrying off their daughters for the sake of a stable home.
Left in terrible financial circumstances, these refugees are also more likely to agree to a disagreeable marriage in exchange for a ‘bride price’ paid by the groom to the family. Duraid says he is not only blaming the Syrians for the situation and is also trying to educate Arab men about "the pitfalls of marrying a Syrian woman".
The activist said that although these men think they are being ‘helpful’ by marrying a refugee, these shotgun weddings don’t make the basis for a happy family life.
“It is also not guaranteed that the husband won't repeat his "helpfulness" by seeking marriage from another female refugee,” he added.
Others have pointed out that no other refugee crisis in the Arab world has had this effect on the Middle East’s men. Moayad Eskeef is another Syrian campaigner keen to highlight the issue. Tongue-in-cheek he pointed out - if these men are so keen to marry a refugee why aren’t there a deluge of Sudanese-Arab marriages?

Egyptian men should focus on those Egyptian women who are refugees themselves in neighboring country because of their so called revolution. Egyptians need help themselves, how can they help others. Double standards. I live in Canada and I feel bad for women and children there, and I have no problem marrying a widow with kids, as a muslim man, one must marry a widow or divorced with kids who is the most vulnerable and not go after beauties. On the day of judgement, Allah will judge everyone based on their intentions. May Allah guide is all, Ameen
I wish that American men could go and marry the Syrian women. At least the women would get an education, drive a care, vote, and not have to walk 10 paces behind their husband.
i cannot believe what these comments say .how many of these cases have actually happened ?very few in fact .its again a chance for those who hate Arabs to put all of us in the same place .little girls are sold for less than $100 in India by their parents .never to be seen again, why no one is crying about that ?Syrian women are our sisters .no decent man would take advantage of them .but there are few who would ,and for those who think that arab women are treated as slaves , should do a study on foreign women who are married to Arab men ; study after study showed they much happier with their Arab husbands .of course like in any relationships there are some bad ones .

This is disgusting. I don't know, how they are agreeing on this. These arabs gonna simply rape their daughters and use them as prostitutes. I believe they should opt for some other options. Also why the arabs are helping through marriages. Why not help them establishing a business or get a job for them. Shame on Arabs.

Oh come on. After seeing the appalling behavior of Egyptian males, no one is under any illusion as to what these :devout Muslim"men" are really after.
What is the surprise about this? These dark-age hate-mongers have been buying "wives" and sex-slaves for 1300+ years under the misguided pretense of protecting them. I suggest instead of oppression women and keeping them as slaves, denying them education, freedom, and the ability to support themselves that Islamic women be set free, then no protection is required. As it is now Islamic women do need protection...but they need protection from Islamic MEN
The personality of muslim men and of islam is to take advantage and subdue and cause tragedy. They only care about themselves. They do lots of lying and taking in the process. I deeply feel sorry for all females who get abused by muslim men. It is a very bad situation for the females. It does not matter what muslim men say, all that matters is what muslim men do.
