‘Shawerma’ Whets Yunes Shalabi’s Appetite for Acting
Egyptian actor Yunes Shalabi is headed to Alexandria to take the stage in the play Shawerma, after recovering from a stroke.
Shalabi told the Egyptian daily Al Messa, “I love Alexandria, and when the producer offered me the script, I did not hesitate for a moment to accept it. I ended my leave and returned to the beautiful time when more than one star used to cooperate in a single performance, such as Madraset Al Mushaghibeen (Rioters School), Al Eyal Kibret (The Kids Have Grown Up)…etc.”
Shalabi said that many stars would perform in the play, including Mamdouh Wafi, Wahid Seif, Buthayna Rashwan, Naser Seif and others. He added that the play was a drama, offered in the shadow of what he called “the current theater crises” - Albawaba.com
