Its never too late to graduate, but will you work? The punch line for a campaign that should be on the go, as Sharihan, Egyptian actress and belly dancer, faces setbacks determining her future plans. Conflicts with the Egyptian Bar Association and Egyptian courts have denied Sharihan’s application to become a lawyer, due to certain conditions, that requires her to have a respectable profession.

The Association saw Sharihan as unfit to hold a double-job as far as her freelance acting is concerned. At some point, the Bar Association went as far as to submit tapes of her dancing and singing performances as evidence. However, the court threw out the tapes as they deemed them irrelevant. The court, on December 5th, 2001, decided against Sharihan’s case, whilst offering respects to acting and dancing professions.

Replying to the court’s decision, Sharihan has filed for an appeal, stating that she will never give up for her right to become a lawyer. The Court of Appeal in turn transferred the case to the Court of Cassation, in order not to flare up issues between them and the Bar Association. The issue might take a couple of months for its final court decision.
