HOLLYWOOD-- This year's official commemorative Academy Awards’ poster by award-winning graphic designer Alex Swart was unveiled on Wednesday in Beverly Hills, California.

The Oscars’ print features a stacked, golden 2001 with an Oscar statuette standing in place of the 1. The statuette is supported by a sweeping ramp, moving upward to a line of larger statuettes emerging from a dark blue background.

I was looking for an unambiguous idea executed dramatically on a grand scale," Swart said in a press release from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. "That felt like the right approach for the Oscar poster."

This is Swart's first year as the designer of the Oscar poster. He previously designed the Academy's retrospective Best Picture poster and five of the Academy's annual reports. Swart won two Promax World Class Awards for his work on "The Alfred Hitchcock Anthology" and "Universal Horror" last year.

More than 13,000 posters will be sent out to movie theaters, video retailers and Oscar night charity fundraisers next month. The posters may be purchased for $20 each including tax and shipping ($30 for international orders) via the Academy's Web site www.oscars.org through April 13.

ABC will broadcast the 73rd Annual Academy Awards live from the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium on March 25.
